Patent Calls acquiring nXn Tech’s Patent ToolsJune 29, 2010
AUSTIN, Texas -- Austin based Patent Calls, Inc. today announced that it is acquiring nXn Tech’s Patent Tools, a computerized patent analytics and search tool suite provider based in Dallas, Texas. The acquisition will combine Patent Tools’ advanced technologies, algorithms and innovative ratings engine with Patent Calls’ extensive expert patent research and information services portfolio. Patent Calls will continue to offer the current free functionality of the tools, and clients will have access to advanced features like patent value scores, similarity mapping and claims comparisons.
Acquiring Patent Tools allows Patent Calls to accelerate deployment of a one-stop portal for legal, business and investment clients, who are focused on resolving disputes amicably, while realizing optimum value from existing intellectual property (IP) portfolios and strengthening IP portfolios to more effectively compete and protect against competitors. The transaction includes rights to an extensive patent portfolio and has an estimated value of $16 million though the actual value may exceed this amount based upon the achievement of certain performance milestones.
“Clients are demanding clear information and concise conclusions to address complex intellectual property related business challenges,” said Dr. Jose Melendez, CEO of Patent Calls. “We tested all of the search and analytics tools we could find in order to provide our clients with the best information services possible. We found that the underlying algorithms that form the technology platform behind Patent Tools are the best out there – so we had to have it.”
Erich Spangenberg, CEO of nXn Tech and IP Navigation Group, said, “The combination of Patent Calls’ deep technical human analytics with this leading-edge tool suite is exciting because now IP Nav’s clients and I can look to a single source for a majority of our patent analysis needs. A team of brilliant scientists spent three years developing the tools and Patent Calls’ is better positioned to make them available to a worldwide base of customers.”
